Explore Burnsville Fire Station 1 during a free open house on October 8. Visitors can meet firefighter-paramedics, tour the station and see a fire engine, ladder truck, ambulance, boat and all-terrain vehicle. The program includes CPR and fire-extinguisher demonstrations, a chance to try spraying a fire hose and a search-and-rescue smoke-room course. Community partners and a LifeLink helicopter are also listed among the attractions. Families can learn about the Fire Station 2 project while talking with department staff. The event runs from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at 14275 Newton Avenue in Burnsville.
